The language program is based on phonetic reading and the joy of exploring literature.
As children grow older, their use of the Montessori apparatus decreases and they work more and more in the abstract. Nevertheless, many concepts are reinforced with apparatus designed by Dr. Montessori that help fix an idea and spark the child’s interest and enthusiasm.
Grammar is unique, fascinating and fun in the Montessori classroom. Our phonetic approach to reading includes reading boxes that follow a specific sequence from short vowels to diagraph, phonograms and puzzle words.
Reading and writing go hand in hand. Children learn to interpret what they read, they distinguish proper sequences of events and develop strong comprehension.
Creative writing, composing prose and poetry, writing letters and essays, and preparing written and oral reports are all part of the curriculum.
Finally, the children are introduced to and learn to appreciate famous authors and classic literature.
